Car of the Day - 1974 Ford Maverick Restoration

Ol' Buzzard after Restoration at Maaco-Fremont
This 1974 Ford Maverick came to us in need of a restoration. The owner of the car, Don Schennek, has a heck on an engine and transmission in this car. Check under the hood at any number of local car shows to see it. But the outside of the car. . . well, let's be blunt, it was a bit chewed-up, rusty. . . ugly. Don had Maaco-Fremont repair dents on the doors, quarter panels, roof, trunk and fenders. We also welded shut 42 holes around the car where old mouldings used to mount. Maaco-Fremont repaired fiberglass cracks on the new "Grabber" hood. We treated the rust on the right and left quarter panels by welding in new metal and in some areas, rebuilt panels in fiberglass. Don changed the color from a dull orange to white. Don's "Ol' Buzzard" is a regular at Northern California auto shows and after his restoration, he received an invite to participate in the prestigious Classic & Custom Car Show in San Jose's McEnery Convention Center. Thanks for letting us work on this great car Don.
